Three services, carried out in sequence
Each piece is assessed individually before any work begins. The scope and duration are set in writing.
Case & Bracelet Refinishing
Scratch removal and restoration of brushed grain and polished chamfers by hand, to original factory lines. Bracelet pins and clasp are re-fitted. Undertaken only where sufficient material remains.

Self-Winding Movement Service
Complete teardown, cleaning, mainspring and reversing wheel replacement where wear is evident, rotor axle inspection, lubrication, reassembly, and multi-position regulation. Covers most Swiss and Japanese calibres from the 1960s onward.

Collection Assessment & Care Plan
A structured review for owners with several pieces in rotation. Each watch is timed, pressure-tested where rated, and photographed. The result is a written plan: what needs attention now, what can wait, and when.

What sets the workshop apart
Hand work throughout
Surface finishing is done by hand. No wheel-polishing machines. The original grain angles and chamfer geometry are preserved, not approximated.
Written scope before any work
Every job is assessed first. The scope, duration, and cost are set in writing. If the work is not advisable, that view is given in writing too.
Vintage and modern calibres
Self-winding movements from the 1960s onward are within scope. Swiss and Japanese. Parts sourced from established suppliers.
Humidity considerations included
Storage and winding guidance is adapted to Malaysia's climate. Not a copy-paste from a European manual.
No obligation care plan
The Collection Assessment carries no requirement to have any of the recommended work done at this workshop. The plan is yours to keep.
12-month labour coverage
Movement service work is backed by a 12-month coverage period on labour. Clear terms, no conditions buried in small print.

Frequently asked
Do I need to book before bringing my watch in?
Yes. A short appointment is preferred so the right amount of time can be set aside. You can call or use the contact form below to arrange a time.
What information do you need before a movement service?
Brand, reference if known, and roughly when it was last serviced. If you have the original papers or a previous service receipt, bringing those along is helpful but not required.
How long does a movement service take?
Typically 3 to 6 weeks. The variation depends on parts availability and the queue at the time of drop-off. A more specific estimate is given when the piece is assessed.
Can my watch be refinished if the case is very thin?
Not always. A case with insufficient remaining material cannot be refinished without distorting the geometry. If that is the situation after assessment, the recommendation to leave it alone is given in writing. There is no charge for an assessment that results in a "no work" recommendation.
What is included in the Collection Assessment?
Each piece is timed, pressure-tested where rated, and photographed. You receive a written plan, a digital inventory with reference and serial records, storage and winding notes suited to a humid climate, and one follow-up consultation six months later. There is no obligation to have any of the recommended work done here.
Do you service quartz watches?
The movement service at Tickfold Atelier covers self-winding mechanical calibres. Quartz movements are outside the current scope of the workshop. Battery replacement and quartz service are not offered here.
